Shall I Find Comfort

Shall I Find Comfort

by Mara

Summary: “From his own experience, Dick knew that awakening heroes from nightmares was fraught with danger and the strong possibility of bumps, bruises, and bloody noses.”

CONTINUITY: I’m kind of ignoring current Robin continuity, okay? This takes
place a year or two from the “present.”
DISCLAIMER: These characters belong to DC Comics. I just fantasize and worry
about them.
NOTES: The title comes from the last stanza of Christina Rossetti’s poem,
“Uphill.” I got this idea from two random DC scenario generator results: “Dick
Grayson/and any black-haired character” and “A former member of Young
Justice/needs to be comforted after a nightmare.” Thanks to Illmantrim for
reassurance and Alexis for prodding me to find some kind of a point.

Out There With You

Out There With You

by Mara

Summary: Tim runs away. Bernard follows.

CONTINUITY: Veers off after War Games and Identity Crisis. Also, I’m doing my
best to deal with the inconsistent personality of Willingham’s Robin. Wish me
luck.
DISCLAIMER: These characters belong to DC Comics. I just fantasize and worry
about them.
NOTES: This is a sequel to Te’s fic, “Go Down Knowing,” which can be found at
http://teland.com/godownknowing.html, and from which I borrowed two lines of
dialogue. All my gratitude to Te for allowing me to play in this corner of her
playground when the boys wouldn’t leave me alone. Thanks to various LJ folks for
squeeing at the idea of this fic. This story is unbetaread because I could have
a baby at *any moment now* and I wanted to get this story finished before that
happened ::grin::

It’s All in the Tone

by Mara

Summary: Bruce and Ollie need to talk. Too bad they’re in public, hmm?

(NB: This is a bit of a tribute to Rubylis’ story “Blackbirds,” which made me
consider a pairing I’d never thought of before.) Read more ›

Everybody Has a Birthday

Everybody Has a Birthday

by Mara

Summary: They say never to work with children or animals. Where did Bruce go wrong?

Story Notes:
Yet another story that’s entirely the husband’s fault. The title is from
a Kurt Vonnegut quote that is otherwise completely unrelated to this story, so I
shall not give it in full. Thanks to my LJ flist for assistance, especially
Meret and Cheetahmaster for suggesting one character’s name. Thanks also to Avi
for providing a company name, my mother for offering her first name, and my
mother-in-law for unknowingly providing a last name. And lastly, thanks to
Illmantrim and Sage for the beta.

Birds of a Feather

Birds of a Feather

by Mara

Summary: Now that Bernard’s a part of the family, somebody wants to have a little chat. (Sequel to “Out There With You.”)

CONTINUITY: Takes place after my fic “Out There With You,” and also goes AU
after Identity Crisis and War Games.

NOTES: This is a light-hearted follow-up to a much angstier fic, featuring the
conversation several people asked me to write. Unbetaread because I’m too lazy.
Deal.

Change is the Only Constant

Change is the Only Constant

by Mara

Summary: When Bruce Wayne becomes Dr. Gregory House’s latest patient, House’s hidden past might just be disclosed.

CONTINUITY: No spoilers for House. Some spoilers for DC big events Identity
Crisis and War Games, although this isn’t set in the same continuity. Clear as
mud? Righto. Just roll with me on this one, ‘kay?

NOTES: This is…an AU? A crossover? Elseworlds? Something like that. The idea
was originally Marcelo’s, but once I saw the show, I *had* to do this. Huge
thanks to Smitty, Marcelo, Euphiechan, and Smurf for the helpful betas and
telling me I wasn’t utterly insane to try this. I’m told that you can read this
without knowing DC comics, but I’m not certain if you have to know House, MD or
not.
